At Haven Technologies, our purpose is to create technology solutions that help people gain access to insurance. Through these products, our clients are able to support policyholders in their time of need, and that meaningfulness is not lost on us.
Our commitment to helping people is also expressed through one of our core values: People Matter. Whether it’s an insurance policyholder, an employee, or a member of our extended Haven Tech community, we believe in showing up and doing what we can to support each other.
We’re proud to share that over the past year, our Haven Tech employees have supported our core values in a number of ways. Last April, a group of team members made sandwiches for Crossroads Community Services, an organization that helps food insecure New Yorkers. This winter, we collected more than 20 coats to benefit New York Cares, and our team members made 70 holiday cards for hospitalized children to be distributed by Cards For Hospitalized Kids.
“It’s important that we give back to our community as a company,” explained Mariangela Ferreira-Reyes, Executive Assistant. “These initiatives help us demonstrate that we matter to each other. We want to give our employees the opportunity to go above and beyond, to get out of the workplace and lend a hand.”
In addition to community service initiatives, Haven Technologies matches charitable donations made by employees. In 2023, our employees donated $33,811 to 64 different charities, as well as $5,510 in payroll deductions that benefited charitable organizations. Haven Technologies also offers each employee up to 24 hours of paid time to volunteer throughout the year; and our team dedicated a total of 499 hours of their time to 11 unique charities last year. All told, our employees plus company match program generated $91,130 in contributions to the organizations that our employees supported financially or through their volunteer efforts.
We already have a number of projects underway to start off 2024. During the month of February, our employees collected and donated 163 books to Project Cicero, a non-profit that distributes new and gently used books to schools across New York City. We are also planning a Blood Drive to benefit the New York Blood Center, and are encouraging employees, as well as friends and family, to participate.
As we reflect on our impact, Emilia Sales, Haven’s Chief Compliance Officer & Corporate Secretary, observes, “Supporting our employees and causes that matter to them in local, national, and international communities builds a strong and meaningful network of connection. We look forward to growing this program even further this year.” Our Haven Tech employees continue to show their care through donations and acts of service, and we are proud to support them.
